One of the unexpected pleasures for me is coming across a passage in the OT that is used in the NT. For instance, I just read Moses' words to the Israelites before they entered the promised land (Deut 8:3) "He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Jesus, of course, quoted this passage when tempted by the devil in the wilderness.
